Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified English/Language Arts teacher to join our ACGC high school faculty located in Guthrie Center, Iowa. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate literature, develop critical thinking skills, and grow as effective communicators in both written and spoken language. This position involves teaching various levels of English classes.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum.

Teach courses in English literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, and related subjects.

Create a classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, respect, and academic excellence.

Assess student progress through assignments, essays, projects, and standardized testing.

Provide individualized support to students to help them achieve academic goals.

Incorporate technology and diverse instructional strategies to enhance learning.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to support student development.

Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.

Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Secondary English/Language Arts (grades 9–12).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage a classroom effectively and foster a supportive learning environment.
Preferred:

Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.

Experience teaching high school students.

Familiarity with Iowa Core Language Arts and Literacy standards.
