What are the responsibilities and job description for the HHA position at AC Employment?
Home Health Aides provide care to patients in their homes. They assist patients in activities of daily living and other related functions and tasks specified in the patient’s plan of care. They work under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse.
- Assist with bathing of patient (bed, bath, sponge, or shower).
- Assist with care of teeth and mouth.
- Assist with grooming (shampoo, dry and comb hair), shaving, care of nails and prescribed skin care.
- Assist patient on and off bedpan, commode, and toilet. Assist with catheter care if needed.
- Assist patient in transferring from bed to chair, wheelchair, and in ambulating.
- Preparing and serving meals. Assist patient with eating.
- Assist patient with dressing and undressing activities.
- Light housekeeping (making and changing beds, dusting, vacuuming, dishwashing, and laundry).
- Assists patient with shopping and errands.
- Maintain daily legible records as instructed and report incidents to the nurse.
- Assist with prescribed exercises taught be assigned professional staff.
- Reinforce dressings and change simple non-sterile dressings.
- Assist with the use of Rehab equipment (walker, wheelchair, cane, etc.).
- Measure intake and output.
- Assist with changing ostomy appliances.
- Assist with catheter care.
- Assist with prescribed skin care.
- Accompany patient to medical appointments.

General |
· Must be 18 years or older. · Must have current HHA Certification from a valid training program. · Must be fluent in English and have adequate written and verbal skills to be able to communicate effectively with patients, and be able to document clearly in charts and reports. · Minimum of two references. · Physical exam satisfying the New York State Department of Health requirements for Home Health Aide. |
