Service Plumber / Septic & Underground Sewer Technician
AC and Plumbing Pro LLC – Apache Junction, AZ
Full-Time | Immediate Opening
Company Vehicle | Flexible Schedule | Diverse Work Environment
Pay: Competitive, Based on Experience Performance Opportunities
Job Overview
AC and Plumbing Pro is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Service Plumber with septic installation and underground sewer experience.
We need someone who can handle a residential plumbing service call one day and work on a septic or underground sewer project the next. This is not a position where you will do the same thing every day.
You may be replacing a water heater, repairing a shower valve, diagnosing a water leak, or completing a water-line repair. Other days you may be installing a septic system, setting tanks, running sewer piping, operating equipment, or assisting our Civil Division on a larger commercial sewer project.
We are looking for someone who understands service plumbing AND underground work and wants the opportunity to expand their experience as our company continues growing into civil and municipal infrastructure.
Service Plumbing Responsibilities
You should be comfortable independently handling common residential and light-commercial plumbing service calls, including:
- Water heater diagnosis, repair, and replacement
- Tank and tankless water heaters
- Shower valve diagnosis, repair, and replacement
- Faucets, toilets, disposals, hose bibs, and plumbing fixtures
- Water-line diagnosis and repair
- Underground water-service repairs and replacements
- Pressure regulators and water-pressure issues
- Leak detection and troubleshooting
- Copper, PEX, PVC, ABS, and other common piping systems
- Drain and sewer troubleshooting
- Sewer and drain repairs
- Re-pipes and partial re-pipes
- Fixture installation and replacement
- Plumbing diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Reading basic plumbing plans and specifications
- Providing customers with repair and replacement options
- Completing service calls from diagnosis through repair
Septic & Underground Responsibilities
Experience with septic installation and underground sewer work is strongly preferred, including:
- Conventional septic system installation
- Alternative septic systems
- Septic tank installation and replacement
- Pump tanks and lift/pump systems
- Distribution boxes
- Disposal fields and trenches
- Sewer laterals and building sewers
- Gravity sewer installation
- Pressure sewer piping
- Excavation, bedding, pipe installation, backfill, and compaction
- Establishing and maintaining proper pipe grade
- Sewer repairs and replacements
- Underground utility locating and exposure
- Working safely around open excavations
Civil & Large Sewer Projects
As AC and Plumbing Pro continues expanding its Civil Division, this position may also participate in larger projects involving:
- Commercial sanitary sewer systems
- Sewer mains and laterals
- Deep sewer excavation
- Manholes and structures
- Sewer taps and tie-ins
- Municipal connections
- Wet utilities
- Water services and mains
- Commercial site utilities
- Trench boxes and excavation protection
- Pipe lasers and grade equipment
- Heavy equipment operation
You do not need to already be an expert in every aspect of large civil construction. Strong plumbing and septic/underground fundamentals combined with the ability and desire to learn are important to us.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a well-rounded tradesperson, not someone who can only perform one type of work.
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong residential service plumbing experience
- Septic installation experience
- Underground sewer experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with both service and installation
- Ability to independently run plumbing calls from start to finish
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners and commercial customers
- Ability to explain problems and present repair options
- Understanding of pipe grade, slope, elevations, and underground installation
- Ability to read plans and construction drawings
- Experience working around excavation equipment
- Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt as daily work and project requirements change
5 years of plumbing, septic, underground utility, or related field experience is preferred.

- Excavators
- Mini excavators
- Skid steers
- Loaders
- Compact equipment
- Pipe lasers
- Compaction equipment
- Trench boxes and shoring systems
CDL, OSHA, Excavation Competent Person, confined-space, wastewater, or similar certifications are also a plus.
Customer Service Matters
Technical ability is only part of this position.
Our technicians are expected to communicate with customers, explain what they find, provide legitimate repair or replacement options, and professionally ask for the work.
We are not looking for high-pressure sales tactics. We are looking for someone who knows their trade, recognizes legitimate problems, communicates confidently, and takes care of the customer.

- Performance opportunities
- Company vehicle
- Company fuel
- Flexible scheduling based on workload and projects
- Diverse work — service, installation, septic, underground, and civil
- Opportunity to operate equipment
- Opportunity to expand into larger sewer and wet-utility construction
