ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments, maintenance and terminations.
- Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions. Serves as the COBRA administrator.
- Conducts new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
- Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefits decisions. This includes all levels of employees including executives.
- Manages annual open enrollment periods each year. Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers. Assists with communicating changes and arranging for on-site presentations by providers and/or broker. Processes changes within deadlines.
- Processes monthly billings from insurance providers. Reviews billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment. Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Completes reports for management as requested.
- Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise.
- Resolves employee complaints related to health and welfare plans. Refers difficult or very complex complaints to manager as needed.
- Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives.
- Acts as a resource for remote employees to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefit or HR policies and regulations. Keeps management 496-5019-00 Rev 0C advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.
- Performs regular employee recruitment activities, including resume review for certain positions and schedules interviews. Maintains records related to same. Serves as point person for external temporary agencies. Work to fill temporary requisitions for short term assignments.
- Works with broker and wellness coordinator do develop yearly wellness programs. Set up events and communicate requirements and status with employees.
- Manages annual performance review cycle to ensure proper set up, distribution and deadlines.
- Prepares government reports related to EEO compliance, OSHA or other HR functions, coordinate monthly publication of company newsletter and other documents as needed., use electronic benefits bulletin board and other vehicles to communicate information, assist in organizational training and development efforts, maintain organizational charts and employee directories.
- Processing the bi-weekly payroll by creating a batch of hourly time punches, recording time off requests, process bonus and commission payments, running the various reports, research and resolve payroll errors and perform manual check calculations.
- Learns about Company’s business as appropriate. Shows up to work on time and attends work as scheduled.
- All other duties as requested by supervisor or department head
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years' experience performing HR Generalist responsibilities
- Minimum 2years' employee relations experience
- Experience administering 401(k) retirement programs.
- Moderate payroll experience
- Basic benefit administration knowledge
- HRCI (PHR/SHPR) or SHRM (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) certification strongly preferred.
- Must be proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of Visio and PowerPoint preferred.
- Five years' experience performing HR Generalist responsibilities
- Four years' employee relations experience
