Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report any changes in condition
- Administer medication accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs; assist with feeding when necessary
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, creating a safe and calming environment
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning tasks; ensure a hygienic environment that promotes health and comfort
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures; respond promptly to emergencies or incidents
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care
- Strong knowledge of patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care plan implementation
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory-related conditions
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
- Excellent communication skills for effective social work interactions and collaborating with healthcare teams
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and adaptability in caring for diverse populations requiring long-term or hospice care
