What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at Abundant Life Baptist Church of Lee's Summit?
The Facilities Manager directs and coordinates activities of maintenance staff and service providers engaged in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, housekeeping, architectural repair and maintenance of all Abundant Life Church buildings and sites. They will also confer with Facilities Director to plan preventive maintenance programs and to schedule inspections and major repairs in coordination with other operating ministries and activities. The Facilities Manager reviews inspection and repair reports and observes progress of work on projects to evaluate efficiency and work quality as well as assist in preparation of maintenance and transportation portion of annual department budget.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct maintenance, housekeeping and groundskeeping staff members.
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure proper set-up and condition of classrooms and multi use spaces.
- Ensure parking lots, sidewalks and grounds are clean and maintained.
- Directs purchasing, requisitioning and warehousing of adequate inventoried of supplies, materials and equipment and maintains records incidental to all activities of the facility.
- Ensure that mechanical and security equipment are well maintained and operational.
- Supervise and maintain transportation fleet, DOT regulations and volunteer drivers.
- Work with appropriate government agencies to ensure that building and grounds are safe and meet current code requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate cleaning projects with other staff members.
- Schedule and coordinate work with outside contractors as necessary.
- Provide emergency “on call” services.
- Work with appropriate staff, committees, officers and leaders in managing church facilities.
- Prepares cost studies and develops standardized maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Conducts maintenance personnel meetings.
- Designs, implements and directs training and safety programs.
- Attend regular staff meetings as assigned.
- Cooperate with Facilities Director by performing other duties when assigned.
- Abide by and follow the Abundant Life Church “Team Charter”.
Skills and Qualifications
This position operates in a fast-paced, professional office environment and routinely uses office equipment such as phones, copiers, and other standard equipment. Typing, proofreading, and computer skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Office) are required, along with the ability to handle precise detail in relation to administrative tasks. Must have a heart for ministry and exhibit the patience, tact, respect, empathy, and courtesy required to be the “face” of Abundant Life to the outside community.

Education/Experience
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and 3 or more years of experience in maintenance and leadership roles are recommended to perform the job duties of this position.
