Compassionate Caregiver / CNA / PCA – Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) Client – Full-Time
Job Description:
Abundant Life Assisted Services is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient caregiver to provide one-on-one care for a female client living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the life of an individual with complex care needs.
The ideal caregiver is calm, attentive, and experienced working with clients who have mobility limitations, cognitive impairment, and communication challenges.
Schedule
- 44 hours per week
- 8 hours/day, Monday–Friday
- 4 hours/day, Saturday & Sunday
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and incontinence care
- Perform safe wheelchair transfers and repositioning
- Prepare soft-consistency meals and assist with feeding as needed
- Encourage hydration using safe swallowing techniques
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Monitor for safety and provide constant supervision
- Assist with mobility and transportation within the home
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation
- Accompany and assist with medical appointments if needed
- Document care provided according to agency standards
Client Overview
- Diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP)
- Wheelchair dependent and non-ambulatory
- Requires total assistance with mobility and daily care
- Experiences cognitive impairment with memory loss and periods of confusion
- Communication is limited due to a speech impairment; responds best to simple, direct communication
- Requires supervision throughout the day for safety
- Requires assistance with eating due to swallowing difficulties
- Experiences bowel and bladder incontinence
- Enjoys the comfort and reassurance of compassionate companionship and family interaction
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA, PCA, HHA, or equivalent caregiving experience preferred
- Experience caring for clients with Parkinson's disease, PSP, dementia, stroke, or neurological disorders is a plus
- Experience with wheelchair transfers and personal care
- Patient, dependable, and compassionate
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
