Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals tailored to children's dietary needs, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and special occasion treats
- Plan menus that incorporate balanced nutrition while accommodating allergies, preferences, and special diets
- Follow strict food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Handle food preparation tasks such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food production to create appealing dishes
- Maintain high-volume food production standards while ensuring quality and consistency in every meal served
- Assist with food handling, portioning, and serving to children in a friendly and efficient manner
- Collaborate with dietary aides and staff to ensure timely meal service and adherence to health regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within childcare or healthcare settings
- Strong background in menu planning, food preparation, and food safety management
- Skilled in various cooking techniques including poaching, braising, grilling, and fine dining experience preferred
- Knowledge of food handling protocols specific to the food industry and catering environments
- Excellent knife skills and experience with high-volume production environments
- Familiarity with food safety sanitizing procedures and proper food handling practices
- Previous restaurant or culinary experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in meal preparation
