The Opportunity 

We are seeking a senior technology leader to oversee System Operations while serving as the organization’s lead expert on Microsoft platforms and AI-enabled workplace technologies. This role blends broad operational leadership and people management with deep hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, endpoint management, automation, and security. The ideal candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary operations team, set engineering direction for Microsoft services, and help the organization translate emerging AI capabilities into secure, scalable business value.

Core Responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead the System Operations function, managing a team responsible for reliable, secure, and well-governed enterprise platforms and services across a diverse operational portfolio. 
• Serve as the senior Microsoft subject matter expert, setting strategy, architecture, engineering standards, and operational direction for Microsoft 365, Azure, collaboration, identity, and endpoint services. 
• Build and develop a high-performing team through clear priorities, coaching, performance management, and a strong culture of accountability and service excellence. 
• Lead the design and governance of enterprise AI capabilities, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, and selected third-party platforms, with a focus on scalable adoption and responsible use. 
• Drive automation and modern engineering practices using PowerShell, APIs, and repeatable operational patterns to improve reliability, speed, and consistency. 
• Partner across IT, security, and business teams to shape roadmaps, deliver new capabilities, resolve complex issues, and improve employee experience and business outcomes. 
• Oversee vendor relationships, licensing strategy, budgeting, and resource planning for the function. 
• Bring experience in regulated or government-contractor environments as a value-add, ensuring platforms can support required controls where needed. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 
• Extensive experience leading system operations, platform engineering, or enterprise infrastructure teams in a complex environment. 
• Deep expertise across Microsoft 365 and Azure, including collaboration, identity, endpoint management, automation, and tenant governance. 
• Proven people leadership experience, including team development, coaching, performance management, and building strong technical cultures. 
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing, or governing enterprise AI capabilities, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, or similar AI platforms and integration patterns. 
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft security and governance capabilities, such as Purview, Defender, information protection, retention, and access controls. 
• Strong scripting and automation skills, including PowerShell and API-based administration. 
• Experience with large-scale implementations, migrations, or platform transformations across enterprise systems. 
• Experience in regulated or government-contractor environments is preferred. 
• Relevant Microsoft certifications across Microsoft 365, Azure, security, identity, or AI are highly desirable. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and lead cross-functional initiatives.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $139,000 to $200,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location.  Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
