The Opportunity
The Program Travel Manager is responsible for managing all domestic and international travel for the program(s), ensuring arrangements are delivered in line with Abt’s travel policies and program requirements.
Acting as the primary point of contact for program travel, the role provides timely, high-quality advice to travellers and stakeholders, manages complex travel needs with appropriate judgement, and supports traveller safety and disruption management.
Whilst reporting the Abt Travel Manager, the position works closely with Program operations team to ensure accurate records, effective expenditure oversight, and continuous improvement of travel processes and systems.
Core Responsibilities
Manage and oversee end‑to‑end domestic and international travel arrangements (air, accommodation, ground transport and transfers), ensuring delivery aligns with Abt’s travel policies, procedures, and program requirements.
Act as the primary point of contact for program travel, providing timely, high‑quality advice and service to travellers and program stakeholders.
Exercise judgement and autonomy in managing complex travel requirements, escalating issues to the Travel Manager where matters fall outside delegated authority.
Ensure compliance with the travel policy and contribute to maintaining accurate and up to date travel documentation and records.
Work closely with the Program Operations and Finance to support effective oversight and reconciliation of program travel expenditure.
Maintain good working relationships with the travel management companies, airlines, accommodation providers and other travel-related vendors relevant to the program;
Contribute to incident and disruption management affecting travellers, including coordination with providers and use of traveller safety and monitoring tools.
Contribute to continuous improvement of travel processes, systems, and practices, including supporting implementation of travel management tools as required.
Provide travel advice and guidance to Program Delivery teams
Undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the scope and level of the role as directed by the Travel Manager.
What We Value
Demonstrated experience delivering end‑to‑end domestic and international travel services in a complex or high‑volume environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and time‑sensitive requests.
Strong working knowledge of Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and travel booking platforms, with the ability to use systems effectively to manage complex itineraries and changes.
Proven experience working in cross‑cultural and stakeholder‑rich environments, with a strong customer‑focused approach and the ability to provide clear, practical travel advice.
Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment, exercising sound judgement, attention to detail, and autonomy when managing travel‑related issues and disruptions.
Experience coordinating travel across multiple stakeholders, including program teams, finance, and external providers, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and service quality.
