*Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday 6am-7pm*

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Facilities Custodian to support the daily operations of our Long Beach Labs. This individual will play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized working environment for our teams.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Clean interior spaces, including floors, rugs, windows, and walls
• Disinfect commonly used surfaces such as desks, door handles, and office tools
• Track and maintain cleaning inventory; place orders as needed
• Maintain outdoor grounds, including debris removal from sidewalks
• Assist with scheduling contractors, facility pickups, and deliveries
• Empty trash and recycling bins; ensure timely vendor pickup and disposal
• Complete and sign janitorial checklists at the end of each shift
• Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections
• Organize and maintain the janitorial closet, tools, and supplies
• Perform minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and unclogging toilets
• Notify management when major repairs or replacements are required
• Assemble facility-related equipment (shelving, racks, tables, etc.)
• Inform management when items need to be procured
• Assist in the Material Prep Station, including packing raw materials and cleaning as assigned
• Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and precautions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• US work authorization (Required).
• Successfully complete a background check.
• 1–3 years of experience in a similar custodial or facilities support role
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and cleaning machinery
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, supplies, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Familiarity with biohazard and chemical safety protocols, including proper disposal and PPE usage
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build positive relationships at all levels
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
• Experience using facility or operational software is a plus
• Commitment to supporting a positive, collaborative work culture

Work Environment & Safety Requirements

Work may take place in laboratory, manufacturing, warehouse, or office environments. Exposure to moderate noise, odors, or chemical substances is possible based on assigned tasks. All employees are required to follow company safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses as needed. Abstrax Tech provides all required PPE and maintains a safe and compliant workspace.
