Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice (Entry Level)
Reports to: Fire Sprinkler Fitter (Licensed)
Compensation Grade(s):starting range of $20/hr to $22/hr Incentive Bonuses
Location: Boise, Idaho
Job Summary:
As an entry-level fire sprinkler apprentice, you will be working under the direction and guidance of experienced fire sprinkler fitters. Your daily responsibility is to assist experienced and licensed fire sprinkler fitters in fitting various types of piping in both commercial and residential buildings.
This is an opportunity for individuals to be the primary support on the job sites where needed whilst achieving the skills to become an experienced apprentice and eventually a licensed fitter.
You will develop a broad understanding of the fire sprinkler industry including the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems, primarily focusing on sprinkler systems.
Responsibilities:
Layout: Assist with layout and assembly to execute fire sprinkler design plans.
Installation: Install and assemble fire sprinkler systems based on blueprints, design specifications, and applicable codes. Assist with measuring, cutting, and digging. Use hand and power tools. Cut and thread pipe.
Inspection and Testing: Conduct routine inspections and tests of fire protection systems to ensure proper functionality. Identify and address any issues promptly.
Repairs and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance on fire sprinkler systems, including troubleshooting and fixing problems with valves, pipes, and other components.
5. Code Compliance: Ensure that all installations and maintenance activities adhere to relevant local, state, and national codes and regulations.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other construction professionals, including contractors, architects, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems into building projects.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, inspections, and tests. Complete required paperwork and documentation in compliance with industry standards.
Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls for repairs or system malfunctions and take appropriate actions to resolve issues promptly.
9. Customer Service: Communicate in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service. Display professional appearance and act as company representative
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
- Able to test piping systems for leaks and read gauges.
- Ability to learn to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Must be proficient with the use of hand and power tools. Able to use a tape measure and cut and thread pipe.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Physical fitness and ability to climb ladders and scaffolds to work at heights and in confined spaces for 8 hours per day.
- May be required to repeatedly lift and carry up 100 pounds
- Able to pass a Drug Test.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a variety of settings including single-family residential properties, multi-family residential properties, warehouses, office buildings, or any property requiring Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm service.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials
- Full time employment currently Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (winter hours) and 7am to 3:30pm (summer hours)
