Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Assist Oral Surgeons during procedures including:
- Simple and surgical extractions
- Wisdom teeth removal
- Dental implant placement
- Bone grafting and membrane procedures
- Prepare and break down operatories for surgical cases
- Maintain strict sterilization and infection control standards
- Ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are properly prepared
- Prepare patients for surgery, including reviewing medical history and vital signs
- Provide clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions
- Monitor patients during procedures and recovery
- Ensure a calm, supportive, and positive patient experience
- Take and process diagnostic images (PANO, CBCT if applicable)
- Accurately chart procedures and update patient records
- Ensure all required documentation is complete prior to surgery, including:
- Treatment plans
- Referrals
- Imaging
- Medical clearances (when needed)
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control guidelines
- Maintain CPR/BLS certification
- Ensure clean, safe, and fully prepared operatories
- 1 year of clinical experience in a dental or medical setting (Dental Assistants preferred, Medical Assistants strongly encouraged to apply)
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of infection control and patient care standards
- Familiarity with dental or medical software (e.g., Dentrix or similar systems)
- Oral surgery or surgical assisting experience
- Exposure to:
- IV sedation monitoring
- Implant procedures
- Bone grafting cases
- Experience working with specialty referrals (oral surgery, perio, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
- Quick thinking and proactive problem-solving abilities
- Fast-paced oral surgery specialty setting
- Active role requiring standing, movement, and hands-on surgical assistance
- Exposure to clinical and surgical environments daily
