Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using advanced practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting payments and explaining treatment plans.
- Manage phone inquiries with professional etiquette, answer multi-line phone systems, and coordinate appointment scheduling efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and assist with billing procedures utilizing systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
- Maintain accurate dental records, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clinical staff by preparing patient charts, updating medical histories, and assisting with intake procedures.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, data entry, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and managing electronic health records (EHR systems).
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office setting or dental clinic environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and office workflows.
- Prior dental assisting experience is essential; familiarity with clinical procedures enhances your effectiveness in the front desk role.
- Proficiency in dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is a plus.
- Solid understanding of medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification, and Medicare guidelines.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; ability to navigate multiple electronic systems efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and medical records management.
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
