477 Facilities Technician

General Description

Responsibilities & Duties

• Maintain plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees and shrubs.
• Removes debris from stairs and walks, rakes leaves, and mows lawn.
• Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns and performs irrigation activities.
• Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
• Operates large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools.
• Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
• Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks and entryways as required.
• Performs and assists in building repairs on 477 properties as needed.
• Follows proper procedures for winterizing splash pads, lawn sprinkler systems and building weatherization.
• Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment at all times
• Seasonal deep cleaning maintenance as needed in offices and common areas, such as shampoo carpets, strip floors, clean base boards etc.
• Routine maintenance/handyman work for entire center and property.
• Properly operate maintenance/housekeeping equipment such as mower, edger, drill, floor scrubber, carpet cleaner, etc.
• Notify Executive Director/Maintenance Director concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building systems.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of organization facilities.

• Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
• Facilities Maintenance experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds keeping
• Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
• Experience maintaining grounds from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe
• Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
• Should enjoy working outdoors, in all weather conditions;
• Be practical and hard-working;
• Have good physical strength and stamina;
• Be independent, responsible and self-disciplined;
• Frequent (75lbs)
• Willing to Travel
