Abrasive West LLC is a precision grinding company specializing in surface and creep feed grinding for customers requiring tight tolerances and consistent quality. We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support and maintain our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, while working hands-on with manufacturing, customers, and suppliers in a job shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections
- Support PPAP and FMEA activities
- Apply quality tools including SPC, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Maintain and manage the calibration system for gauges and measurement tools
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards
ISO 9001:2015 Compliance & QMS Maintenance
- Support internal and external ISO 9001:2015 audits
- Assist with quality documentation updates and controlled records
- Participate in management review meetings
- Track and report key quality metrics
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
Customer & Supplier Interface
- Address customer complaints and coordinate Corrective Action Reports (CARs)
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues
- Serve as the primary quality representative during customer and regulatory audits
- Support customer quality requirements and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field
- 2–5 years of Quality Engineering experience in a job shop manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
- Experience using quality tools such as FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and root cause analysis
- Proficiency with GD&T and precision metrology tools
- ASQ certification (CQE or CQT) preferred
- Experience with ERP systems preferred (Global Shop Solutions a plus)
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment
