We are seeking a Trusts & Estates Planning Associate to support and expand our estate planning and elder law practice. This role emphasizes client counseling, drafting, and implementing estate planning strategies for a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals and families with special needs. This associate will work closely with experienced partners whose practices blend technical skill with compassion.
About the Role:
This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in estate planning who is looking to gain greater responsibility and client contact. The associate will handle the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, various types of trusts, Medicaid applications, and asset protection strategies.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in New York
- 5 years of experience in estate and tax planning, asset preservation, and/or elder law
- Familiarity with Medicaid eligibility, trust funding, and planning for individuals with special needs
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to approach legal planning with empathy and clarity
- Interest or experience in alternative dispute resolution is a plus
- A small book of business is welcomed but not required
Location: Lake Success, NY
Salary Range: $140,000–$175,000 (commensurate with experience)
