Competencies
- Ensures countersinking and tapping are performed to exact specifications, maintaining part integrity and meeting quality standards.
- Uses tools, machines, and technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and perform accurate machining tasks.
- Able to work effectively on the shop floor either independently or as part of a production team.
- Perform countersinking operations to create conical recesses for flathead screws.
- Perform tapping to cut internal threads into predrilled holes.
- Operate manual and power tools such as drills, tapping arms, or drill presses.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Inspect parts for proper countersink angle, depth, and thread integrity using gauges and measuring tools.
- Follow job travelers, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Deburr and clean parts after tapping/countersinking operations.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and machines used.
- Report defective materials or issues to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings or blueprints.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while operating tools and machines.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of parts and tools.
- Manual dexterity and handeye coordination for precise countersinking and tapping.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move parts or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity to read blueprints, inspect parts, and use gauges and measuring tools.
- Shop floor/machine shop environment with regular exposure to machinery, noise, and metal components.
- Consistent use of required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, etc.) for safety compliance.
- Adherence to established safety protocols and housekeeping practices.
- May involve working independently or in a team to meet production goals.
