Role Description The Crew Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Westland MI, responsible for leading a field crew in daily exterior property maintenance activities. This role oversees tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, mulching, seasonal cleanups, snow and ice management, and general site cleanliness for assigned commercial properties. The Crew Lead organizes daily work schedules, assigns tasks, ensures safe and efficient use of equipment, and verifies that all services meet company quality standards. This position includes monitoring weather and site conditions, communicating with supervisors about progress or issues, documenting work performed (including photos and service records), and ensuring vehicles and tools are properly maintained and stocked. The Crew Lead is also responsible for training new team members, promoting safe work practices, and representing the company professionally while on-site.
Qualifications
- Experience leading or supervising landscape, groundskeeping, or exterior maintenance crews, with the ability to plan work, delegate tasks, and motivate team members.
- Hands-on skills in commercial landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, blowing, planting, pruning, mulching, and seasonal cleanups.
- Strong attention to safety, including adherence to PPE requirements, safe driving practices, and OSHA/industry-standard safety guidelines.
- Reliable communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, reporting site conditions, and interacting respectfully with clients and the public.
- Proven reliability and ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, walking for extended periods).
