Auto Body Tech
Job Summary
An Auto Body Technician focuses primarily on the exterior repair and restoration of automobiles. These technicians not only repair vehicle damage but also replace parts as needed to restore vehicles to manufacturer standards. They are responsible for reviewing parts against estimates, ensuring accuracy in orders, and preparing vehicles for body repair work. Technicians must notify management of any additional repairs required during the process.
Essential Job Duties

Complete full disassembly of the vehicle to assist Service Advisors in assessing damage and preparing a 100% repair plan.

Identify all necessary repairs to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.

Plan work procedures and follow work orders for all listed operations.

Remove interior trim, accessories, glass, and seat operating equipment as needed to access damaged areas; store parts on carts or cover to prevent damage.

Repair damaged vehicle bodies using proper repair procedures according to manufacturer specifications.

Operate a variety of hand and power tools, such as welders, soldering equipment, cutting torches, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sanders, and spray guns.

Properly prepare, finish sand, and prime exterior panels before turning vehicles over to the Paint Department.

Repair or replace defective parts as required.

Ensure all repairs are completed thoroughly to reduce the need for supplements and speed up repair completion.

Comply with all CARSTAR safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
Qualifications
Skills/Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to effectively communicate with others – verbal and written
- Working estimating knowledge
- Organization and multi-tasking skills, good time management and the ability to adapt easily to fast-paced environment.
- Personable, friendly demeanor with “World Class” customer service approach
- Well groomed, professional appearance
- You have the ability to read and understand instructions
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
The position is based in a normal shop environment. Occasional physical activity such as reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to inspect repairs, and lifting and carrying objects over 50lbs. Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, along with high levels of noise. Subject to weather conditions both inside and outside. Required to wear protective equipment when necessary. Occasional sedentary work. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Salary : $28 - $32
