Position Overview:
The Campus Store Assistant supports the daily operations of the campus store by delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining organized merchandise displays, and assisting with administrative tasks. This role reports directly to the Store Manager and Course Materials Coordinator and offers a hands-on experience in retail management and campus engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Support: Assist customers in-store with purchases, returns, and inquiries. Handle phone calls, emails, and monitor store social media and chat platforms professionally.
Merchandising & Inventory: Receive, inspect, and merchandise new stock. Regularly update displays, monitor inventory levels, and process special product orders to ensure product availability.
Clerical & Data Entry: Support store operations with accurate data entry, pricing verification, and maintaining organized records. Assist with basic reporting and documentation.
Store Operations: Open and close the store efficiently, prepare daily deposits, and coordinate store supplies. Support campus events and oversee the work of student employees, offering coaching and feedback.
Accounting & Administrative Support: Enter routine financial documents, process vendor invoices, and verify student accounts for purchases. Assist with inventory counts and year-end procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to serve diverse groups, including students and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and familiarity with office equipment.
- Ability to learn campus-specific systems quickly.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with good decision-making skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs., stand, walk, and perform typical store duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Basic knowledge of accounting procedures.
- Experience with social media platforms or marketing.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. with some Saturdays. Flexible hours based on business needs.
- Wage: $20/hour.
- Start Date: As soon as possible.
- Duration: Anticipated through June 30.
