Pediatric Dental Assistant

This hands-on career requires a strong sense of responsibility, good communication skills and the ability to work with other members of the dental team and a variety of patients and parents. Pediatric dental assistants require an extra set of skills because children have special dental needs. Not only are they in the early stages of their physical development, they are also more of a challenge to keep still and calm during dental checkups and treatments. The ability to communicate with and set children at ease is an important skill. Children respond differently according to their stage of development. PDA should be familiar with different tricks and techniques to get children to cooperate during their checkups and ensure the dentist can do their job properly.

Duties and Skills

● Ability to Inspire, Smile & Laugh

● Assisting the dentist during procedures, routine, emergency and lap exams

● Taking (in a tiny mouth) and developing X-rays

● Teaching patients about oral health strategies such as brushing and flossing correctly

● Applying dental sealants

● Integrity & Positive Attitude

● Great communication skills

● Knowledge of Dentrix software a plus

● Licensed with the NM State Radiology Department Preferred

● 1 Years Pediatric Dental Experience Preferred

Office Hours

Patients are currently seen Wednesday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. Additional hours are available between Rio Rancho Children's Dentistry and Dr. Tasker's other privately owned location in Rio Rancho near Rust Hospital.

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Pay: Depends on Experience

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
