What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guest Services Cashier position at ABQ BioPark (Guest Services)?
The ABQ BioPark’s Guest Services team is seeking friendly, helpful and customer-focused team members to serve as Cashiers at the BioPark Zoo, Aquarium & Botanic Garden.
Successful candidates enjoy going above and beyond to welcome BioPark guests and ensure that all guests have a fun, safe, and educational visit. Cashiers report to the Admissions Supervisors and are part of the Guest Experience department.
This position is employed through the Tryfacta staffing agency, not the City of Albuquerque, and is located at the ABQ BioPark. These full-time and part-time positions are limited to a two-year term.
Duties
- Greeting and welcoming guests to the BioPark.
- Selling tickets in person.
- Providing exceptional customer service by answering questions, directing guests, and sharing in-depth knowledge of BioPark operations and policies.
- Taking proactive steps to create fun, safe, and educational experiences for all guests.
- Interacting with a large number of guests while maintaining a professional, calm demeanor and sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time.
- Helpfully resolving guest issues to reach a win-win outcome.
- Working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and all types of weather.
- Collaborating with all BioPark departments and outside organizations to serve guests beyond the front gates, including event assistance, trash collection, crowd control, etc.
- Supporting the New Mexico BioPark Society through membership sales and event assistance.
- Handling cash and strictly adhering to all cash-handling procedures.
- Working on weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Required Qualifications
Guest Experience Crew members must be 18 years or older and have basic computer proficiency. Crew members must be physically able to lift or move up to 30 pounds (stanchions, light barriers, tables, etc.). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Candidates must pass a security background check to be hired.
Work Schedule
Full-time positions available. All positions require weekends and seasonal evening work. Shifts are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch.
Pay Rate:
$14.30 per hour and are employed through the staffing agency Tryfacta, not the City of Albuquerque.
