Duties and Responsibilities

  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement personalized treatment plans, and provide ongoing compassionate counseling to individuals dealing with substance use challenges.
  • Diagnostic Criteria: Possess a thorough understanding of co-occurring disorders and the ability to make the distinction of primary mental health disorders and substance use disorders.
  • Compliance: Maintain clinical documentation standards in accordance with Illinois Administrative Code Title 77, Part 2060.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular chart audits and performance evaluations to ensure departmental KPIs and clinical outcomes are met.
  • Group Facilitation: Experience in facilitating didactic and psycho-educational groups as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned relative to role and scope of work.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in counseling or social work from an accredited, verifiable four-year college or university is required with a preference for licensing and/or Master’s Degree or a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certified by IAODAPCA/ICB.
  • Licensure (Preferred): Provisional license (LPC/LSW) or CADC.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Clinical Expertise: Understanding of the ASAM 4th Edition criteria and understanding of the DSM 5-TR as it relates to substance use and co-occurring disorders.


Competencies: (Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Experience)

  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • The ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools; Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to maintain and accurately document occurrences.
  • Adhere to deadlines and prioritize assigned work, projects.
  • Understand the Social Determinants of Health as framework relative to client population needs.
  • Awareness and utilization of Motivational Interviewing.
  • Understand and practice a client centered approach.
  • Understand and practice cultural awareness and humility.
