The Fleet Safety & DOT Manager supports ABM’s enterprise-wide fleet safety, DOT compliance, and technology‑driven risk management programs. ABM operates a diverse fleet of approximately 6,000 vehicles, including 1,650 DOT‑regulated drivers and 1,000 DOT‑regulated (MCS‑150) vehicles.
This role is responsible for managing DOT compliance, enhancing fleet safety performance, and optimizing ABM’s AI Camera & Telematics Program in partnership with Motive. The position collaborates closely with Operations, Safety, HR, Legal, and Risk to reduce fleet-related incidents, maintain regulatory compliance, and support safety excellence across ABM.
Pay: $90,000.00– $100,000.00

Qualifications:
- 5–7 plus years’ experience in fleet safety, DOT compliance, transportation safety, or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements.
- Experience with fleet telematics, GPS monitoring, or AI video camera systems (Motive preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and create actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
- Proficiency with fleet safety systems, telematics dashboards, and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASP and/or CSP certification (or progress toward certification).
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards.
- Experience in a large, decentralized, or service‑based organization.
- NATMI, NSC, or NAFA fleet safety credentials (e.g., CDS, CTP, NSC Fleet Safety).
Work Environment
- Hybrid role requiring presence at a designated ABM corporate office location.
- Occasional field site visits, ride‑alongs, and vehicle inspections.
- Travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities:
Fleet Safety Program Leadership
- Implement and maintain ABM’s Fleet Safety Program, policies, and standards to reduce collisions and improve driver performance.
- Identify risk trends, analyze incident data, and lead corrective and preventive measures.
- Support safety initiatives, campaigns, and coaching programs that promote a safe driving culture.
DOT Compliance & FMCSA Oversight
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA (Parts 382–399) as well as state specific DOT regulations across all ABM regulated operations.
- Oversee Driver Qualification Files (DQFs), medical certifications, annual MVRs, drug and alcohol compliance, and hours‑of‑service requirements.
- Support and prepare for DOT audits, investigations, and corrective action plans.
- Maintain ABM’s MCS‑150 information and ensure accurate DOT fleet classification.
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulations and communicate impacts to operations leaders.
- Monitor maintenance of regulated vehicles, focusing on actions items from vehicle inspections.
AI Cameras & Telematics (Motive Platform)
- Serve as the program manager for ABM’s Motive AI Camera and Telematics Program.
- Support rollout, installation, and optimization of camera/telematics equipment (currently deployed in approx. one‑third of all vehicles).
- Monitor telematics data including harsh events, distracted driving, speeding, seat belt usage, and GPS‑based insights.
- Develop and support coaching workflows and telematics scorecards for drivers and supervisors.
- Coordinate with Motive and ABM IT/Fleet teams on integrations, updates, and troubleshooting.
Training & Driver Development
- Develop and deliver DOT compliance training, defensive driving courses, fleet safety modules, and supervisor coaching materials.
- Support new driver onboarding, annual refresher training, and high‑risk intervention processes.
- Ensure training documentation and driver corrective actions are properly maintained.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Produce regular dashboards and KPIs related to fleet safety, DQF compliance, CSA scores, collision rates, and telematics performance.
- Present insights and recommendations to the Sr. Manager of Safety Programs and other ABM leadership.
- Use data to guide root‑cause reviews, corrective actions, and performance improvement strategies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Safety Directors, Operations, HR, and Fleet teams to drive safety standards and compliance.
- Partner with HR/TA for onboarding new drivers and integration into Driver Qualification file process
- Support Legal, Claims, and Risk Management by providing incident analysis, camera footage, and fleet‑related documentation.
- Work with Procurement and Fleet Operations on vehicle specifications, safety technologies, and vendor (Fleetworthy) management.
