What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baggage Handler position at ABM US?
The Baggage Handler is responsible for assisting airline passengers with proper handling, processing, and transportation of their luggage. Meet all arrivals as scheduled and assist passengers at baggage claim.
Pay: $14.00 an hour, plus tips
Shift: Full-Time – Holidays and weekends are required

Qualifications:
Required:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
• No experience required and on the job training provided
Preferred:
• Must be able to communicate with basic English language
• One (1) year of customer service experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- Loading, unloading, carrying or otherwise transporting passenger luggage to and from specified areas.
- Assist in proper handling of over-sized, unusually shaped luggage including skis, dog kennels and strollers.
- Ensure passenger luggage is placed safely on the baggage handling system.
- Adhere to all airport and government policies and regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with passengers, co-workers, shift coordinators, managers, and security personnel.
- Determine flight departure times and connecting carriers based on customer tickets
- Screen all passengers transferring between airlines prior to placing baggage on the return belts
- Ensure baggage tags are correct
- Direct and assist passengers with short-checked bags
- Handle misplaced or lost baggage claims and provide reports to carriers
- Evaluate customers' needs concerning airline locations
- Comply with all client and/or site security requirements and processes
- Coordinate assignments with dispatchers and gate Agents, if necessary
- Complete thorough Incident Reports
