Role Description The Accounting Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based in Bangor, ME. This position is responsible for performing daily bookkeeping tasks, including processing accounts payable and receivable, recording transactions, reconciling vendor and credit card statements, maintaining accurate financial records, tracking lien waivers with customers and subcontractors, and providing administrative assistance to internal and external customers. The Accounting Clerk will assist with preparing and updating financial reports, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and organizing documentation for audits and compliance. The role includes working with accounting software (Viewpoint Spectrum), responding to internal inquiries, and collaborating with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate data entry. The Accounting Clerk will also support general office and administrative tasks related to accounting operations and office functions as needed. This position will report to the Financial Controller. Normal work hours are 7:00 - 4:00, with the opportunity for overtime available.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, be willing to help others, and be customer (both internal and external) focused.
- Candidates should possess skills in Bookkeeping and maintaining financial records.
- Communication skills, both written and oral, are critical.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on-site full time in Bangor, ME and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools, particularly Excel.
- Prior experience in a construction accounting, finance, or administrative support role is preferred.
- Relevant coursework or a certificate in accounting, finance, or business is beneficial.
