Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Towing Dispatcher to join our dynamic transportation operations team. In this vital role, you will coordinate the dispatching of tow trucks and service vehicles, ensuring prompt response to roadside assistance requests, vehicle recoveries, and fleet management needs. Duties

• Manage incoming service requests via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear communication and accurate data entry into transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software.
• Coordinate with drivers, roadside assistance teams, and internal departments using GPS, GIS, and internal communication tools to optimize routing and response times.
• Monitor fleet status through GPS tracking and vehicle dispatch software, adjusting assignments as needed to meet urgent demands while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, including freight details, customer interactions, and incident reports using systems like SyteLine and AS400.
• Communicate effectively with customers via phone call management, providing updates on service status while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Support logistics operations by managing shipping & receiving schedules, coordinating with 3PL providers, and overseeing transportation planning for efficient vehicle recovery.
• Conduct analysis of dispatch data to identify opportunities for process improvements in road transportation operations and supply chain workflows.

Experience

• Proven experience in dispatching within the transportation or logistics industry, preferably involving fleet management or road transportation operations.
• Strong familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like Vehicle Dispatch Software.
• Knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, and route optimization tools used in transportation planning.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple calls and systems simultaneously while maintaining accuracy in data entry.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly via phone call management and internal communication channels under pressure.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations governing freight transport and vehicle operation standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with experience using logistics software such as SyteLine or AS400 for operational tracking.
• Strong analysis skills to evaluate dispatch performance metrics and improve overall efficiency in fleet deployment.
