Position: Direct Support Professional (Lead) Monday-Friday with on call responsibility.
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional/Lead to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring clients receive the care they need while fostering their independence and providing meaningful companionship in their homes. The successful candidate will be flexible, reliable, and possess strong leadership abilities.
Primary Responsibilities
· Provide compassionate companionship and support to clients in their homes.
· Mentor and or fully assist clients with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, cleaning, brushing teeth, toileting and other personal care needs.
· Monitor, document, and support changes in clients’ health and behavior, reporting updates before the end of each shift.
· Implement care plans tailored to the individual’s unique needs.
· Ensure a safe and clean-living environment for clients, both inside and outside their homes.
· Communicate effectively with clients, families, friends, guardians, and healthcare professionals while strictly adhering to HIPAA and confidentiality rules and laws.
· Work primarily evening shifts (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM), with flexibility for other days and times based on client and staffing needs.
· Administer medications, update medical paperwork as needed, and conduct medication checks.
· Promote client independence and provide mentorship to encourage self-sufficiency.
· Demonstrate leadership skills and execute tasks as requested by management in a timely manner.
· Work locations include Kansas City, Independence, and Raytown; flexibility to work at different sites as needed is required.
· Fulfill on-call duties, including nights, weekends, days, evenings, overnights (sleep/wake), and holidays.
· Review and ensure all daily documentation are accurate and submitted in a timely manner for end-of-month review.
· Lead and communicate effectively with your team regarding the needs of the home, ensuring tasks are completed by others.
· Provide transportation to and from clients’ approved locations.
· Train new staff and support their integration into the team.
· Plan for time off in coordination with management to maintain adequate staffing coverage.
· Organize and manage time efficiently to meet the needs of multiple clients and shift schedules.
· Manage and assist with scheduling of staff for your location
· Attend, participate, and or conduct: weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly meetings
· Maintain vehicle maintenance and cleaning
· Other duties may be assigned as needed
· Review and ensure ledgers are being completed accurately
· Must participate in training or learning courses
· May be asked to participate in disciplinary meetings/conversations
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred (required on day of orientation).
· CPR/First Aid certification (required on day of orientation).
· Level 1 Medication Aide certification (required on day of orientation).
· Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (required on day of orientation).
· Social Security card (required on day of orientation).
· Bank account information for direct deposit (required on day of orientation).
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Demonstrated leadership ability and effective communication skills.
· Flexibility to work at other locations with short notice as emergencies arise.
· Ability to mentor, support, and train new staff members.
