When you join our growing, community-based, job training program, you will be empowering adults with developmental disabilities to build lives for themselves. You can help people learn social and vocational skills while supporting those individuals at some of the premier, non-profit volunteer sites in our area who support our mission.
As a Job Coach, you will lead and support person-centered groups of adults with developmental disabilities throughout the day in natural, community-based settings. Support is provided in small to medium groups (6–10 participants) at job sites, volunteer locations, and community activities.
This role is ideal for someone who is people-oriented, adaptable, and energized by working directly alongside others. Each day is active, dynamic, and rooted in real-world skill building, connection, and independence.
What You’ll Do:
Direct Support & Skill Building
- Support and coach participants at job and volunteer sites, working alongside them to model appropriate workplace behavior and job skills
- Teach and reinforce vocational, social, communication, and daily living skills using individualized goals and support plans
- Provide prompts, encouragement, and fading supports to promote independence and skill development
- Assist participants with problem-solving, emotional regulation, and navigating real-world situations
Community Integration
- Accompany small groups to community job sites, volunteer opportunities, and local outings
- Facilitate 1–2 evening social groups per week (until approximately 7:30 pm), including activities such as bowling, swimming, mini golf, museums, and more
- Engage positively with community partners, volunteers, and the public as a representative of Ability Specialists
Safety, Documentation & Teamwork
- Monitor participant safety and well-being throughout the day
- Follow behavior support strategies, safety protocols, and program guidelines
- Complete required documentation, including case notes, incident reports, and daily logs
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding participant progress and concerns
- Participate in training, supervision, and ongoing professional development
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs and Director of Operations
Physical Requirements
- On your feet 5–6 hours per day
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van and supervising safe loading/unloading
Schedule & Compensation
- 40 hours per week with consistent hourly pay
- Hourly wage does not vary based on daily responsibilities

Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with good standing motor vehicle record
- Ability to pass a national criminal background check
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort using technology, including Apple iPad mini
- Customer service- and hospitality-oriented mindset
- Minimum 1 year experience in a related or similar role (human services, education, caregiving, behavioral support, etc.)
- Background or education in Human Services is a plus
