- Collaborate on Student Learning: Support lesson planning and activities aligned with Individualized Education Program goals.
- Create Community-Based Learning Experiences: Facilitate hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Support students as they get involved in local activities, events, and opportunities across Columbus and beyond.
- Provide Consistent Student Support: Follow training and behavioral support plans to ensure student safety and engagement.
- Maintain a Safe and Supportive Environment: Help create structured, positive spaces that promote learning and growth.
- Build Meaningful Relationships: Partner with students, families, school staff, and the Ability Matters team to strengthen support systems.
- Personalized Care & Support: Provide person-centered assistance tailored to each individual’s needs. Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and belonging.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: 4-year degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Education, childcare, or community-based experience is helpful but not required.
- Passion: A desire to support and empower individuals with disabilities is required.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to support diverse needs.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
