What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Skills Trainer position at Ability 2 Learn, Inc.?
(ILS) - (Independent Living Services)
Thank you for your interest in our program!
We serve as mentors to adults with developmental disabilities, teaching essential life skills that support greater independence in their daily lives. Our goal is to share our knowledge and life experiences in a way that provides guidance, support, and meaningful education to help each client reach their personal goals. Through our support, we have the opportunity to empower individuals, strengthen their confidence, and create lasting positive change within our community.
Many of our clients aspire to achieve major milestones such as securing their own apartments, saving for a car, obtaining a driver’s license, or finding better employment opportunities. No matter what the goal is, our mission remains the same: to support each individual in their personal growth.
We work with our clients one‑on‑one in natural settings such as their homes, workplaces, schools, and throughout the community. Our clients’ disabilities vary and may include mild intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental conditions. Many of the individuals we support are high‑functioning adults who are fully capable of achieving their goals with the right encouragement. Often, they simply need a bit of natural support, structure, and guidance — and that is exactly what we provide
We work with both male and female clients, exclusively adults (aged 18 years and older).
Our staff must be patient, caring, and willing to go the extra mile in order to help our clients succeed.
