Position Summary: As an Advocacy Program Coordinator focused on community participation and consumer supports, you will be responsible for the oversight and monitoring of administrative and programmatic tasks associated with Independent Living (IL) programming. You will plan, organize, and implement programming provided by our IL division. You will also supervise a team of staff members and serve as a coach and mentor.
The Advocacy Program Coordinator will drive results and should be a proactive and motivated self-starter that engages well with his/her team and other community professionals. The Program Coordinator is responsible for oversight and operations of our Independent Living division, which provides advocacy, peer support, independent living skills and information and referrals to the disability community.
Essential Functions (Primary Duties):
The Advocacy Program Coordinator will drive results and should be a proactive and motivated self-starter that engages well with his/her team and other community professionals. The Program Coordinator is responsible for oversight and operations of our Independent Living division, which provides advocacy, peer support, independent living skills and information and referrals to the disability community.
Essential Functions (Primary Duties):
- Provide training to employees which includes new employee on the job training and orientation.
- Coordinate and complete initial and ongoing assessments of individuals.
- Coordinate, develop, review, and ensure implementation of independent living plans.
- Develop and ensure implementation of planned community program activities, as per IL guidelines.
- Develop community programs related to IL and deliver educational and training materials to the community as it pertains to the IL division.
- Create and promote a culture centered on the IL philosophy, with the people we support.
- Display principles of good management and apply these in daily work performance.
- Track data on consumer outcomes, community participation, events, information and referrals, etc. as per programmatic guidelines
- Create monthly and quarterly progress reports for internal reporting as well as any external audits or regulatory reporting.
- Promote a positive working relationship with all employees
- Participate in required training and professional growth activities.
- Train and provide direct supervision to direct reports in the IL division.
- Ensure quality services by monitoring program functions through record reviews and other documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and agency guidelines.
- Provide ongoing staff oversight and monitoring by facilitating and completing staff training, 1:1 meetings, informal counseling, discipline, and performance evaluations
- Other duties as assigned
Role Qualifications:
- Willing and able to travel to meet consumers in the community and attend community engagements
- Valid PA driver’s license and a good driving record
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and web-based systems
- Function as part of a team, working cooperatively with colleagues and supervisor
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain highly organized with acute attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
- Effective time-management skills
- Ability to effectively identify issues and develop, recommend, and implement a solution
- Reliable transportation
- Must successfully complete PA State Police and Child Abuse Clearances and undergo an FBI clearance check
Education/Relevant Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
