GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of skilled, specialized work involved in the City Cemetery.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position serves as a lead worker, overseeing daily tasks, supervising staff, and managing operations in the absence of the Crew Chief.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Operate City vehicle and various types and sizes of equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, mulchers, edgers, ditchers and line trimmers in the maintenance of right-of-ways, boulevards, vacant lots, municipal grounds, ball fields, and city parks.
Perform daily tasks needed to provide landscape services for the cemetery.
Plan and execute funeral services, including site verification and setup, in the absence of the Crew Chief.
Perform tasks inherent to cemetery operations such as grave leveling, stone leveling, stone repair, etc.
Maintain equipment used daily through lubrication, sharpening, cleaning, and fluid checks.
Oversee the cemetery crew in the Crew Chief's absence and enter work performed into the Work Order System (Asset Essentials).
Facilitate minor plumbing repairs as needed.
Work in conjunction with Parks Division as a team player to help where needed.
Equipment Operator II
Must be able to step into crew chief position when crew chief is not present and perform role in a leadership manner, by ensuring all tasks are executed without any setbacks

Methods, materials, and equipment used in cemetery work.
Occupational hazards and safety precautions of equipment work.
Safe driving principles and practices.
Computers and other technology that are pertinent to the completion and documentation of work.
Skill To:
Safely operate a motor vehicle.
Operate large and small equipment such as backhoe, mowers, line trimmers etc.
Make plumbing repairs to pipes.
Manage time and resources efficiently.
Ability To:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Perform calculations and organize information to accurately complete reports.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience And Training Guidelines:

Equipment Operator I
Experience:
One (1) year of related work experience as a heavy equipment operator or demonstrated proficiency in operation of equipment while working in the Parks Division is required.
Education/Training:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
License Or Certificate:
A valid Texas driver’s license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Equipment Operator II
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a heavy equipment operator is required.
License Or Certificate:
A valid Texas driver’s license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Heavy Equipment Operator Training Certificate is required.
Special Requirements:
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Bloodborne Pathogens training and HazCom training are required within Sixty (60) days of employment.
Ability to travel to different sites.
