What are the responsibilities and job description for the AHS Assistant Track Coach position at Abilene USD 435?
Abilene High School is seeking an Assistant Track Coach for this upcoming season (Spring 2026).
Our track & field program continues to build on a tradition of success and is committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the track. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential while contributing to a positive, championship culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a dedicated staff, work with our student-athletes, and help continue the growth of the Abilene Track & Field program. A preference would be someone willing to coach the throws (discus, javelin, shotput) but not required.
Duties of the position include (but are not limited to):
- Teaching and modeling the Abilene Athletics & Activities core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.
- Coaching in a transformative manner that builds strong relationships and helps student-athletes grow not only as competitors but also as people.
- Teaching track & field fundamentals, event-specific techniques, and competition strategies essential for individual and team success.
- Assisting in preparing and implementing efficient, focused practice plans that emphasize skill development, technique, and continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with the head coach and coaching staff to develop athletes while supporting a vertically aligned track & field program.
- Providing positive leadership, energy, and support to student-athletes while helping foster a culture of excellence.
- Following all policies and guidelines set forth by KSHSAA, USD 435, and Abilene High School.
Salary : $29,560 - $49,448
