Abigail House is seeking a creative, organized, compassionate Full-Time Activities Director to join our team in a long-term care environment. The Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of our residents, including those living with memory impairment.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute engaging activity programs that promote resident participation, independence, and quality of life
- Plan and coordinate special events, celebrations, entertainment, and community partnerships
- Create activities that support residents with varying abilities, including those in memory care
- Complete activity assessments, care plans, progress notes, and required documentation
- Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department organization
- Maintain accurate documentation related to activity participation and resident preferences
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized resident care plans
- Ensure activities are inclusive and appropriate for a diverse resident population
- Manage activity schedules, calendars, and program logistics effectively
- Supervise activity staff and volunteers as assigned
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations
Qualifications:
- Must be APC (Activity Professional Certified) certified, REQUIRED
- Prior experience working in senior care, nursing homes, assisted living, or a similar healthcare environment preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), dementia care, and memory care needs
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong event planning and execution skills
- Able to promote and maintain a teamwork focused environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment with residents, families, and team members
- Strong communication, creativity, and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and engage residents with compassion and enthusiasm
