Water Resources Project Manager – Chantilly, VA (Onsite)
On behalf of a well-respected civil engineering design firm, ABGI Talent Solutions is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager to join a high-performing Water Resources team in Chantilly, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to lead complex and impactful stormwater, floodplain, and dam-related projects for both public and private sector clients. The role is onsite with potential flexibility and includes technical leadership, project oversight, and team mentorship responsibilities.
About the Role:
As a Water Resources Project Manager, you will play a key role in the design, management, and delivery of stormwater management facilities, floodplain modeling, and dam safety permitting. You will oversee construction, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and help train and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage stormwater management facilities (e.g., bioretention, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, underground detention).
- Conduct construction inspections and oversee construction administration for water resources projects.
- Manage floodplain studies, culvert/bridge designs, and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8).
- Lead dam permitting projects including breach analysis, inundation mapping, emergency action plans, and dam safety inspections
- Produce final construction documents, permit applications, and technical reports.
- Serve as a supervisor for at least one direct report and mentor junior team members.
- Manage project schedules, client relationships, and contract responsibilities.
- Coordinate with regulators and internal/external stakeholders to achieve project approvals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 6 years of experience in water resources or civil engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and H&H modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, Flowmaster).
- Strong analytical, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ArcMap or equivalent GIS software.
- Experience writing technical proposals.
