All candidates who wish to be considered for this position must have High school diploma or equivalent, AND successful completion of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) ParaPro Assessment, OR 72 quarter or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education (official transcript is required), OR an Associate’s (or higher) degree (official transcript is required.) and submit the online employment application.


Position Summary:

The position promotes positive public relations for the district. A specific duty roster may be established as needed by the building administrator. Will deliver final GED exams to students in a secure testing environment. Depending upon individual school needs, the position may perform any or all of the following duties.


Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist in administering district, state and national tests; maintains diagnostic and test data for teachers; maintains and updates student records, attendance and other data.
  • May be required to provide basic first aid care to ill and injured students.
  • Assist in maintaining physical appearance of classroom; straighten chairs/tables, put materials away after use.
  • May be required to transport student as part of their instructional program.
  • Acts as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behavior to students; assist teacher in maintaining a classroom conducive to learning.
  • Prepares equipment and supply inventories and orders materials as necessary.
  • Assist in the supervision of volunteer and student assistants.
  • May operate a computer using third party software to provide student’s exam and provide technology assistance only.
  • Process and distribute forms, correspondence, worksheets, tests and schedules by using office machines such as a typewriter, computer, photocopier and other standard office equipment.
  • May enter data into computer and maintain various databases.
  • Maintain files and records. Document daily activities and progress as required. Keep daily testing records required by the GED testing company.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Follow exact protocol for admitting and administering GED exams for a testing candidate
  • Work with the Online Education Technician and the District Assessment Coordinator to schedule GED exams for students.
  • Maintain a secure testing environment at all times inside the GED testing room.
  • This position will NOT be assisting students in preparing for GED exams or with any other academic work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AA degree, 72 college credits or pass a skills test required.
  • Post high school training in child development and related training desired.


Certificates/Licenses:

Type II driver’s license may be required. CPR/First Aid may be required.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • General knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, and ability to operate standard office equipment such as word processor and photocopier. Keyboarding skills at 45 words per minute for some positions.
  • Ability to learn and willingness to use computer equipment and various software programs.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and be flexible to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle students with behavioral and physical handicapping conditions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate ratios and percentages and interpret graphs.
  • Remains objective, fair, and open-minded.
  • Has good organizational skills; meets timelines appropriately.
  • Possesses good listening skills; is able to express thoughts clearly in verbal and written communications.
  • Physical ability to perform duties as required.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Interacts positively with students, families, staff, community and administration.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to students, parents and staff.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk; and occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds such as pushing children on a bike, in a wheelchair, or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud at a standard acceptable level for this environment. The employee is responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students. The employee is exposed to infectious diseases/illnesses carried by students
