What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Planner position at ABCO?
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for daily planning and assignment of customer loads to the dispatch team.
- Approve or decline CSR submissions for same day and next day customer load offers.
- Development of driver routes based on customer pickup and delivery schedules.
- Manage fleet requests for production, maintenance and home time.
- Continual review of inbound/outbound freight, empty/committed truck statuses and trailer availability to maximize asset utilization.
- Responsible for allocation of trailers to customers and geographic areas based on customer and company needs.
- Manage the day-to-day utilization of drop yards and terminals.
- Coordinate with Sales, Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Drivers to ensure maximum productivity, customer service and driver satisfaction.
- Plan and implement processes as necessary to improve routing and equipment utilization performance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to provide effective planning to maximize service and financial performance
- Knowledge of national, regional and metropolitan geography and roadways
- Knowledge of DOT regulations including hours of services rules with ability to incorporate rules into daily shipment planning
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and business partners in a professional and respectful manner
- Provide detailed instruction to various personnel via email and phone
- Ability to develop relations with Fleet Managers, drivers, management and internal and external business partners
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with transportation management systems a plus
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; bi-lingual Spanish a plus
