Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician - II to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The Quality Technician inspects and assures product part quality by utilizing a specialized combination of skills, knowledge, communication, and technical/mathematical abilities. The technician is part of the manufacturing team to help quality and cost through process optimization. Is the subject matter expert with metrology and calibration of tools.
Duties
- Assures product quality and manufacturing accuracy by recommending and following quality standards and procedures. The inspector understands and recommends improvements to manufacturing process setups to improve finished part accuracy and quality.
- Maintains product quality documentation by keeping accurate records and files.
- Ensures gauges and tooling are calibrated and maintains records for calibration due dates for Manufacturing and QA Lab. Updates and maintains the ABCO quality calendar.
- Liaison between manufacturing and engineering on design and/or manufacturing defects in order to facilitate disposition of the defect.
- Works effectively with team leaders and manufacturing planners to develop and maintain in-process and final inspections on manufactured or purchased parts to assure the parts are within tolerance or specification.
- Performs receiving inspections to verify purchased products match material, quantities, workmanship and finishes.
- Must have an understanding of mechanical part drawings, manufacturing work processes, geometric analysis, and part tolerances.
- Ability to read blueprints and/or customer drawings. Must have an understanding of weld symbols critical to quality designations for visual weld inspections.
- Understands the required specifications of customer quality requirements.
- Effectively use the measuring instruments to verify part accuracy, including the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) system. Often assists engineering or assembly with part or machine measurements pertaining to design, machine setup, or installation problem solving.
- Effectively interfaces directly with manufacturing and assembly resources during the manufacturing or assembly work process to help evaluate parts & process improvements.
- Help develop and maintain work instructions to meet requirements of ISO 9001:2015 Standard.
- Observe all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe manner.
- Serves as a mentor for the apprenticeship programs within the Quality Department.
- Other duties as properly assigned.
Working Conditions:
Working environment is generally favorable with adequate lighting. Work may require bending, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Pulling, pushing, sitting, reaching, and standing for up to ten (10) hours per day. Must wear personal protective equipment as required.
Minimum Education Required:
Associates degree in Metrology or 10 years relevant experience.
Minimum Years of Experience Required:
Five (5) years Quality Assurance experience.
