We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review and process medical claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Ensure accurate documentation of medical records and proper coding of diagnoses and procedures
- Submit claims electronically through EMR or EHR systems and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
- Manage medical collections by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing issues
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and coding updates
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify documentation accuracy and completeness
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to medical records and billing information
- Prepare reports on billing activities, claim status, and collection efforts for management review
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical office procedures
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical collection processes and insurance claim submission protocols
- Prior experience handling medical billing in a fast-paced environment is advantageous
