Job Title: Medical Assistant

Reports To: Floor Nursing Team Lead

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Division: Floor Nursing

Summary: The Floor Nurse will assist physicians with all aspects of hands-on patient care. Accuracy of records and caregiving are essential functions of this job.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintains professionalism with all patients, parents, Physicians, and co-workers. Contributes positively to the work environment.

2. Preps charts for appointments based on visit type.

3. Greets patients, collects appropriate vital signs and screenings or lab tests based on visit type and room patients.

4. Collects a brief clinical history of patients.

5. Prepares and administers medications, vaccinations or treatments as prescribed by the Physician.

6. Assists Physician with office procedures or surgeries.

7. Maintains Laboratory competency and works lab shifts as needed.

8. Completes and logs patient forms as per ABC Forms procedure.

9. Works as a team with other Floor Nursing staff to take care of all ABC patients.

10. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including patient rooms and staff areas.

11. Ensure proper and accurate documentation of current and past vaccinations (NCIR), vital signs, lab results, while keeping all patients records confidential.

12. Communicates effectively with Physicians, Patients/Parents, and colleagues to assist in delivering excellent care to ABC patients.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Certification as a CMA or LPN required. A minimum of one year relevant clinical experience preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to measure.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Record, practice management software and the NCIR.

Experience:

  • Medical Assistant/LPN: 1 year (Preferred)
