ABC Marketing, Inc. is an established manufacturers' representative and distributor company serving the RV, marine, and specialty vehicle industries. We work closely with leading OEM manufacturers to develop, source, and supply innovative lighting, electrical, and specialty products.
As our proprietary product offerings continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced RV Product Development & Compliance Engineer to help lead our product testing, qualification, and compliance initiatives.
Position Overview
This is a hands-on technical position focused on evaluating, testing, and qualifying new products for the RV and specialty vehicle OEM markets.
The successful candidate will take ownership of ensuring that products developed, sourced, or introduced by ABC Marketing meet applicable industry standards, electrical requirements, and performance expectations.
A key component of this position will also involve developing and expanding our in-house product testing laboratory, including identifying equipment needs and establishing standardized testing procedures.
Prior experience with RV electrical systems and practical knowledge of RVIA-adopted codes and compliance requirements are mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Qualification
Lead the technical evaluation and qualification of new electrical and lighting products. Collaborate with domestic and international suppliers to evaluate designs, identify improvements, and ensure products meet customer and application requirements.
RV Industry Codes & Compliance
Ensure products meet applicable RVIA-adopted standards, electrical codes, and product-specific regulatory requirements. Review supplier certifications, coordinate third-party testing when necessary, and stay informed of industry code changes.
Product Testing & Validation
Perform hands-on electrical and thermal testing to evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety. Develop standardized testing procedures, document results, and investigate product failures or technical concerns.
Testing Laboratory Development
Lead the continued development of ABC Marketing's in-house testing laboratory. Identify and recommend equipment, establish testing protocols, and develop the capabilities necessary to support our growing product portfolio.
Technical Support & Collaboration
Work closely with product management, engineering, sales, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges. Provide product-related technical guidance to internal teams and OEM customers.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience with RV electrical systems, including 12V DC and 120V AC applications.
- Practical knowledge and experience applying RVIA-adopted codes and compliance requirements.
- Experience with electrical product testing, validation, or qualification.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and product specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment and performing hands-on technical evaluations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Five or more years of RV industry experience, preferably in OEM engineering, product development, or compliance.
- Experience with LED lighting products and automotive electrical systems.
- Experience developing laboratory testing procedures or evaluating testing equipment.
- Familiarity with applicable NFPA, NEC, UL, CSA, SAE, and FMVSS requirements.
- Experience working with domestic and international product manufacturers.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD software.
An engineering degree is preferred but not required for an exceptional candidate with substantial RV electrical and compliance experience.
