POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of high-level accounting activities for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts for properties/equipment, current liabilities, long-term liabilities, and other assets.
- Records costs of newly acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible)
- Tracks existing fixed assets, records any depreciation/amortization and accounts for the assets’ disposition.
- Maintains equipment lease schedules and ensures lease payments are made promptly.
- Collects all tax-related information and oversees reporting to taxation authorities at the federal, state, and local levels in a timely manner.
- Serves as primary point of contact for any other government-related finance inquiries.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts and oversees various tax filings including deferred income, sales & use, building property, payroll, annual tax filings, etc.
- Oversees corporate liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the company’s financial activities.
- Reviews, manages, and reconciles company bank and credit card accounts.
- Reconciles corporate balance sheet accounts including current assets, current liabilities, long term liabilities, and other assets.
- Oversees general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts including current assets, liabilities, and equity.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, master’s preferred
- At least 5 years direct experience
- CPA preferred.
- Proficient knowledge (5 years’ experience) of related accounting software and general ledger entries
- Stellar communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Excellent mathematics skill
