Position Summary: We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Daycare Driver. This role is crucial to upholding our mission by ensuring seamless school drop-offs/pick-ups. The ideal candidate is adaptable and passionate about working with children.
Responsibilities (Daycare Driver):
- Safe Operation of Vehicle: The driver must operate the bus in a safe and cautious manner at all times, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. This includes conducting pre-trip inspections, monitoring the bus's condition, and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Child Safety and Supervision: The most critical duty is ensuring the safety of every child on the bus. This involves assisting children on and off the bus, securing them properly in their seats or safety restraints, and maintaining order and discipline during the ride. The driver must have a strong understanding of safety protocols and be prepared to handle emergencies.
- Route and Schedule Management: A driver is responsible for following a designated route and schedule to ensure children arrive at their destinations on time. This may involve navigating through different neighborhoods and adapting to traffic conditions.
- Communication with Staff and Parents: The driver acts as a key point of contact. They must communicate effectively with daycare staff regarding any issues or changes and may also need to interact with parents during drop-off and pick-up.
- Maintaining a Clean Environment: The driver is responsible for keeping the bus clean and well-maintained. This includes daily cleaning, sanitation, and ensuring the bus is free of debris.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
- Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting is highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing schedules and needs.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand/sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
