ABC Auto & Exhaust is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician / Mechanic with strong exhaust, muffler, welding, diagnostic, and general automotive repair experience.

This is a hands-on position for a technician who can diagnose problems, perform quality repairs, and work independently on a wide variety of vehicles.

Our shop performs a high volume of exhaust-related work, including catalytic converter replacement, mufflers, exhaust repair and fabrication, along with brakes, suspension, maintenance, diagnostics, engine-related repairs, and other general automotive work.

We are looking for someone dependable, mechanically strong, efficient, and capable of taking a vehicle from diagnosis through completed repair.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and replace automotive exhaust systems

Catalytic converter replacement

Muffler and resonator replacement

Custom exhaust fabrication and modification

Cut, fit, bend, and weld exhaust tubing

Repair exhaust leaks, damaged flanges, hangers, flex pipes, and related components

Install and repair O2 sensors and O2 sensor bungs

Diagnose exhaust rattles, noise, fitment, and clearance issues

Perform catalytic converter theft repairs

Perform general automotive diagnostics using scan tools and other diagnostic equipment

Diagnose check-engine lights, drivability concerns, and mechanical problems

Perform brake repairs and replacement

Perform suspension and steering repairs

Perform cooling-system, belt, accessory, and general engine-related repairs

Perform oil changes, fluid services, and preventive maintenance

Diagnose and repair basic automotive electrical issues

Read wiring diagrams, service information, schematics, and technical procedures when required

Inspect vehicles and identify additional repair needs

Provide the front office with accurate repair recommendations, required parts, and labor information

Complete approved repairs efficiently and correctly

Road-test vehicles when necessary

Perform final quality-control inspections before vehicles are returned to customers

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Qualifications

Professional automotive repair experience

Strong exhaust and muffler repair experience

Welding and fabrication experience strongly preferred

Solid general mechanical knowledge

Ability to diagnose problems instead of only replacing parts

Experience using automotive scan tools and diagnostic equipment

Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, lifts, and standard automotive repair equipment

Ability to read service information, wiring diagrams, and technical procedures

Experience with brakes, suspension, maintenance, and general repair

Engine and drivability diagnostic experience preferred

GM, diesel, electrical, or advanced diagnostic experience is a plus, but not required

ASE certifications are a plus, but hands-on ability and experience are more important

Ability to work independently and manage jobs from diagnosis through completion

Strong attention to quality, fitment, safety, and workmanship

Dependable attendance and professional work habits

Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate customer vehicles

This position is primarily focused on diagnosing and repairing vehicles.

The front office handles most:

Customer communication

Estimates and pricing

Scheduling

Parts ordering

Invoicing

Front-counter duties

Technicians are expected to accurately communicate findings and repair needs to the office so they can remain focused on completing quality automotive work.

Pay: From $33.80 per hour
