Facilities Maintenance and Light Duty Mechanic

Full time, 40 hours/week

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance/Light Duty Mechanic performs maintenance and repair services necessary to keep the Abby Vans buildings, grounds, and rental properties functioning safely and efficiently. This individual will also be responsible for basic preventive maintenance on our fleet of vehicles to include oil changes, brakes, etc. The ideal candidate will have some building electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other building systems skills, as well as vehicle maintenance skills.

Prerequisites (Competencies):

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Previous experience operating motor vehicle with trailers.
• 5-10 years of working experience in facilities maintenance.
• FTA/DOT Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Company Policy enrollment
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and able to multi-task.
• Ability to use good judgment and make independent decisions in a timely manner.
• Must have good knowledge of troubleshooting techniques in order to determine exact problems and tackle them accordingly.
• Must possess the appropriate knowledge of machinery and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
• Must exhibit good mechanical skills in handling equipment to avoid causing injuries to self and others.
• Requires close attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of tasks.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to traverse properties and facilities to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
• Must be physically able to perform repairs when, and where, needed.
• Must have a full range of physical motion to operate tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform very strenuous tasks during the course of routine performance of duties, including lifting heavy weights and carrying loads/materials.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, sit, kneel, climb, walk, and crouch, as job may require.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry and move objects up to 100 pounds or more.
• Ability to work overhead.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and roofs.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, and weather conditions.
• Ability to work in high noise levels, requiring hearing protection.
• Ability to work around paints, lubricants, solvents, batteries and cleaning fluids.
• Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.

• 4thStreet, Neillsville.
• Rental properties.
• Other locations as assigned.
