Position Title: Inventory Specialist- Thrift Shop

Position Status: Part-time (30 hours per week)

Pay Range: $17-$20 per hour

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of Thrift Shop Operations and Volunteer Engagement

Job Overview

The Inventory Specialist plays a key role on the Thrift Shop team (consisting of Director of Thrift Shop Operations and Volunteer Engagement, the Senior Director of Community Access and Engagement, and Sales Associates) and is responsible for inventory management including receiving, processing and storage of donations, preparing inventory for sale, and ensuring adequate inventory on store racks & shelves. The Inventory Specialist position is highly collaborative within the Thrift Shop team and requires the ability to work effectively in a professional manner with a diverse and inclusive community at Abby’s House, including staff, volunteers, guests and residents, and donors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Evaluate, revise, and standardize procedures to accept, sort, price, and store donated items in a timely manner.

· Collaborate with Director of Thrift Shop Operations and Volunteer Engagement around sorting and pricing guidelines & ensure volunteers and thrift staff are regularly updated on all practices and guidelines

· Coordinate sales promotions with Director of Thrift Shop Operations and Volunteer Engagement

· Optimize the design and use of Thrift Shop floor space & storage to maximize efficiency and sales.

· Properly process and store specialty items

· Maintain egress and open passages in sorting and storage areas for the safety of volunteers and staff

· Develop and/or maintain outlets for all unsold clothing and household items (ie: Planet Aid or similar)

· Ensure the security/safety of all clothing and household items for sale

· Assist with training new volunteers and staff on proper Thrift Shop procedures related to donation intake, sorting and pricing.

· Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere among volunteers and staff

· Be liaison to companies who donate products to Abby’s House Thrift Shop

· Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and one-to-one meetings w/supervisor, and be committed to ongoing growth and improvement in the position.

· Assist with planning and organization of seasonal changeovers and other sales w/ the Thrift Shop team.

Qualifications

· Passion for Abby’s House mission and values.

· Minimum of 1- 2 years of relevant experience in a retail setting working directly with the public.

· Ability to provide oversight and collaborate with volunteers.

· Excellent customer service, organizational skills and verbal and written communication.

· Spanish speaking abilities highly preferred.

· Ability to pay careful attention to detail and thoroughly complete work tasks.

· Team oriented.

· Reliable and on time.

· High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· Ability to work Saturdays and occasional nights as required.

· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Lifting may be required for 30%-70% of a workday, dependent upon the flow of donations.

· Ability to stand for a minimum of 70% percent of scheduled shift.
