The Economic Analyst will be an integral member of a global corporate economics department, working in a team based environment to support and promote the economics function at Abbott. The analyst will apply a working knowledge of economic and financial market principles to understand the external environment and support ongoing business needs. The analyst is recognized for knowledge of core economic and financial theory, and an understanding of how the theory applies in a business environment.
What Youll Work OnThe analyst will work on a variety of projects that support Abbotts global businesses, focusing on industry and market analysis. Specific tasks may include :
Applying statistical, financial, and economic analysis of public and private data, to provide timely insights of underlying trends and patterns for key marketsMonitoring and tracking changes in global financial markets and how they relate to economic, healthcare, geopolitical and industry risksConstructing and maintaining various economic indexes, dashboards, and other data visualization & reporting toolsContributing research, econometric and time series analysis, and data visualization to department reports and communicationsRequired QualificationsA successful candidate possesses either a Masters or Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, or related field, and can demonstrate an understanding of economic theory and application.1-2 years of prior work experience in an economic or financial analyst role is preferred.Required QualificationsA strong interest in economic and financial issues along with the curiosity and desire to develop their personal skill setStrong written skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and themes to a general business audienceThe ability to critically review and analyze external reports and data, and to summarize key information into clear and concise viewpointsExperience working with economic and financial data from multiple data sourcesExperience with econometric / statistics software such as EViews or R, and willingness to learn other statistical software as neededThe ability to work on both independent and group projects while contributing to the overall growth of the teamParticipants who complete a short wellness assessment qualify for FREE coverage in our HIP PPO medical plan.
