The Opportunity We are seeking an Associate Director, Technology Product Owner (TPO) to join our Digital Solutions team in Santa Clara, CA. In this role, you will align customer/commercial priorities with technical execution, partner with Technical Leads/Architects on architecture and sequencing and work closely with Product Managers and Program Managers to ensure technical product release readiness and quality outcomes. This role is a critical link between technical product strategy and execution—owning product scope, roadmap, risks, and delivery outcomes—while ensuring high standards for quality, security, and compliance in a regulated environment. What You Will Work On Lead end-to-end delivery of technical product initiatives from concept to launch and continuous improvement Translate strategic goals into epics, user stories, and prioritized backlogs Define scope, ownership, and decision-making frameworks across cross-functional teams Drive alignment across Product, R&D and Program Management functions Partner with engineering leaders on trade-offs across speed, quality, compliance, and business value Oversee release readiness, including dependency management, risk mitigation, and launch quality Incorporate quality, compliance, and traceability early in the development lifecycle Establish and track delivery metrics and OKRs to improve performance and customer impact Support platform adoption and shared services in collaboration with platform teams Ensure clear and consistent documentation of technical decisions and outcomes. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience) 10 years of experience in medical device development or another highly regulated industry Proven ability to work in matrixed, global environments Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred 8 years of experience in technical product management, product ownership, engineering, or program management Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives Strong Agile execution skills (backlog management, sprint planning, dependency management) Familiarity with enterprise and cross-division operating models Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athena) and interoperability solutions Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., OAuth, mTLS) and privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR) Experience with cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, CI/CD, and modern development practices Background in software engineering or technical leadership Experience working with external partners and global teams Strong stakeholder management, influence, and negotiation skills Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: www.abbottbenefits.com Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
